About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with a product-oriented mindset, experience in automation and Infrastructure as Code, and an interest in advocating best practices to a team of outstanding developers. In Platform Engineering, our focus is to create core components in AWS to support millions of daily requests from our applications. We prioritise creating an easy path to production with the right level of abstraction, advocating best practices to our team, and ensuring environment stability and security, including participation in the paid on-call rota. This is a fast-paced learning role, and you will get to work with cutting edge AI and Machine Learning technologies in Sagemaker.
Lead initiatives such as modernising our infrastructure and managing Kubernetes at scale.
Collaborate with Engineering to improve QA support by rethinking our environments and reducing the differences between production and development.
Set up isolated environments on demand with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to improve efficiency and velocity.
Work with Engineering to identify and implement processes and tools to streamline feature deployment in our growing product.
AWS, Terragrunt, Terraform, Kubernetes, EC2, ECS, MySQL (RDS), Cloudwatch, S3, Go, PagerDuty, JIRA, Github, Bitbucket, ElasticSearch, CircleCI.
Required Skills and Experience
Professional experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Networking, Linux, CI/CD, Docker, Troubleshooting, Databases, and Monitoring/Telemetry.
Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate well, and consider different viewpoints.
Experience with modern programming languages and an interest in creating tooling to support internal customers.
Familiarity with Terragrunt and Terraform, ability to write modules, conduct code reviews, and push for code quality improvements.
Specialisation in Security, Databases or Machine Learning
System Design knowledge
Experience mentoring colleagues
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
