About Bark India
Bark India is the largest operation of Bark outside the UK, with more than 100 staff members. Bark India started operations in December 2022 and currently manages Customer Experience, Sales, Marketing Content, CRM functions for Global Operations.
About the role
We are actively seeking a highly process-driven and meticulous HR Executive to serve as the operational backbone of our Bangalore team. The ideal candidate is not just familiar with HR administration but is a true operational expert who thrives in an environment defined by rigid structure, strict statutory compliance, and absolute data accuracy.
In this role, 80% of your bandwidth will be dedicated to the precision execution of the employee lifecycle. You will act as the custodian of our processes, managing every critical touchpoint—from facilitating seamless, compliant onboarding experiences and maintaining error-free records to managing complex documentation and ensuring dignified, organized exits. Your primary objective is to ensure that our HR operations are audit-ready, legally sound, and running with machine-like efficiency.
The remaining 20% of your time will be focused on the human element, where you will support high-impact employee engagement initiatives to foster a vibrant and positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Lifecycle Management (80%)
This is the core of your role. You will act as the custodian of employee data and process integrity.
Onboarding & Induction:
Manage the end-to-end pre-boarding and onboarding process.
Coordinate with IT and Admin teams to ensure asset allocation (laptops, ID cards, workstations) is ready before the joining date.
HRIS & Data Management:
Maintain the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) with 100% accuracy.
Update employee records regarding transfers, promotions, and personal details.
Manage leave and attendance tracking systems, ensuring data is ready for payroll processing.
Payroll Coordination & Compliance:
Act as the SPOC for payroll inputs (LOP data, new joiner data, exit data, reimbursements).
Ensure adherence to statutory compliances specific to India and Karnataka (PF, ESIC, PT, Gratuity, and Shops & Establishments Act).
Handle employee queries regarding salary slips, tax proofs, and PFwithdrawals.
Documentation & Letters:
Draft and issue vital HR letters: Offer Letters, Appointment Letters, Appraisal Letters, PIP notifications, and Relieving Letters.
Maintain digital and physical personnel files in audit-ready condition.
Leave & Attendance Governance
1. Monitor attendance anomalies, leave misuse, and ensure compliance with company leave policies.
2. Liaise with managers to resolve attendance discrepancies before payroll.
Offboarding & Exits:
Manage the resignation workflow and calculate notice period adjustments.
Coordinate the Full & Final (FnF) settlement process.
Conduct operational exit interviews to ensure all company assets are recovered.
Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution
1. Act as the first point of contact for employee relations concerns, grievances and redirect them to the appropriate leadership.
2. Provide guidance on minor disputes, discipline issues, or workplace behavioural concerns.
3. Escalate sensitive cases to HR Manager or leadership.
Global Collaboration & Integration
1. Align HR operations with global policies while adapting them for India.
2. Participate in cross-region HR calls and projects.
2. Employee Engagement & Culture (20%)
You will support the broader HR team in keeping the workforce motivated.
Events: Plan and execute monthly birthday bashes, festival celebrations (Diwali, Christmas, Kannada Rajyotsava, etc.), and team outings.
Communication: Assist in drafting internal emails, newsletters, and policy change announcements.
Wellness: Coordinate health camps or wellness webinars for employees.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience:
Experience: 4 to 6 years of proven experience in HR Operations / HR Generalist roles.
Education: MBA in HR or a Master’s degree with relevant certification.
Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Bangalore.
Technical Skills:
Excel Proficiency: Strong command of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting) is mandatory for reporting and payroll inputs.
HRIS Knowledge: Hands-on experience with tools like Darwinbox, Keka, Zoho People, Workday, or SAP SuccessFactors.
Compliance Knowledge: Solid understanding of Indian Labor Laws and Karnataka state statutory requirements.
Behavioral Competencies:
High Attention to Detail: Zero tolerance for errors in data entry and documentation.
Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive salary and personal data with discretion.
Process-Oriented: Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) rigorously.
