About Bark
Bark is an online services marketplace connecting customers with professionals across over 1,000 categories. Operating in nine countries including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, we're transforming how people find trusted service providers for everything from home improvement to professional services.
Our platform uses cutting-edge technology to match customers with the right professionals quickly and efficiently. With a global team of over 220 people, we're currently undergoing an exciting transformation: migrating from a lead generation model to a full marketplace platform with subscription based pricing.
As a profitable, PE backed scale up (EMK Capital), Bark offers the best of both worlds: the agility and innovation of a fast moving business combined with financial stability and resources for growth. We recently launched our new marketplace model in Australia (Q4 2025) and are preparing for rollout to the UK and US markets in 2026. You'll have genuine ownership, responsibility, and the opportunity to shape our commercial strategy during a pivotal transformation phase with the chance to make your own contribution to our journey.
About the Role
Please note this is an initial 6-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the door open for an extension.
As part of Bark’s transformation from a Lead Generation platform to a fully-fledged Services Marketplace, we are looking for an experienced growth hacker or product-led growth (PLG) expert to drive a step change in adoption of our consumer App adoption (both iOS and Android). We want our app to become the primary destination for anyone looking to hire a Professional and get jobs done.
You will set the strategy for app growth, working with Product leadership to identify where it should sit within our Consumer journey, and our overall approach to driving adoption. You will identify opportunities to organically drive traffic both from our existing experiences, whether on-product or via our marketing, or from creating new experiences or organic approaches that can boost our traction. Understanding how this should differ for new vs. existing users is also going to be key.
Key opportunities include when a user has chosen to engage with a Professional and using the app to manage this experience through the App, or pushing the App as a vehicle to start a new search and get another item crossed off a to do list (whether as a new download or repeat app usage).
Your work will complement that of an existing cross-functional App squad. Their focus will be on creating the best possible experience as Consumers search, engage and hire, whereas yours will be on the top of the funnel. Combined, repeat app usage will be a huge focus.
We’d therefore expect close collaboration with that team but also all of our Consumer experience squads, Marketing, UX Research, Content and Analytics. You’ll sit at the intersection of Product and Marketing, but receive support from across the business to deliver the impact we’re looking for.
We’re a data-driven company that embraces new technologies. We’re looking for someone with an analytical approach, that can leverage the ever-changing capabilities of AI to maximise their impact, be that to explore concepts or scale an idea that previously would have required a huge amount of manual effort.
Responsibilities
Define a Consumer app growth strategy - set the direction to grow our organic engagement share through adoption and usage of our Consumer app. Communicate this across our organisation to drive alignment and magnify your impact.
Own our App growth roadmap - identify and prioritise opportunities across our business to grow app adoption, in line with your strategy
Deep understanding of our users and UX - build deep expertise in the Bark marketplace - our strategy, our journeys and our users. Apply the quant and qual insights that come out of this to shape the path to growth.
Delivery and impact - explore hands-on solutions whilst influencing across our business to deliver on your plans. Clear communication and thoughtful rationale will be critical to success.
Evangelise our App - represent our Consumer app in conversations across Bark. Inspire others to start thinking “App-first”, and be clear what that means.
Required Skills and Experience
Track record of successfully employing PLG and growth hacking techniques to drive significant increases in usage and stickiness of a Consumer-facing mobile app
Experience in defining growth strategies, and effectively communicating them across an organisation
Highly effective collaborator, capable of influencing across teams and functions to deliver results
Supremely confident with data, qual and quant, to derive insights that can inform decision-making and prioritisation
A demonstrable self-starter that can get ideas off the ground and build momentum around them
Experience working with Marketplace products (and the associated complexities) a plus. Given the additional challenge of the breadth of services Bark covers, we’re looking for someone that loves a challenge!
